Bogie Back for Border Battle

David Bogie
After travelling to Wales and Ireland for the opening two rounds of the MSA British Rally Championship, Dumfries rally star David Bogie makes the short trip down to Carlisle for the 3rd round, the Pirelli Carlisle Rally with high hopes of consolidating his fine start to his championship campaign. Bogie will be particularly confident as he is a former winner of the event, triumphing in 2011 driving a Mitsubishi Evo 9. Debuting a new Skoda Fabia, and without a significant amount of time for testing, Bogie has enjoyed a successful start to his 2016 campaign, scoring an excellent 4th overall on the series opening round, a very snowy Mid Wales Stages. There was a switch to a much different surface for the following round, the fast tarmac stages of the Circuit of Ireland where, despite a heart stopping testing accident, it all came together perfectly on the event with David and long time co-driver Kevin Rae coming home in a very credible 6th place. This result leaves David well placed in equal 4th position in the British Rally championship and, with the confidence of a previous win under his belt, the 5 times Scottish Rally Champion can look forward to improving on this on the Pirelli Carlisle Rally which runs over stages in the giant Kielder Forest complex. The Pirelli Carlisle Rally runs over the weekend of 30th April/1st May and is based in Carlisle at the H & H Borderway Auction Mart situated just of Junction 43 of the M6. The opening leg leaves Carlisle at 12:30, returning for the overnight halt at 6:00pm. Competitors re-start at 8:00 the following morning and the finish ceremony, complete with the traditional champagne spraying, is at 12:00 noon.
