Attention Pennine Way Walkers

A high-speed motor rally will be taking place in Shepherdshield (part of Wark forest) on Saturday 17th June 2023. For the safety of the public there is a Special Events Closure Order in place and also a CROW Closure which suspends your “Right to Roam” for the duration of the rally. However, the Organisers recognise that this could present an inconvenience for those walking the Pennine Way if your schedule coincides with that date. Therefore all bona fide Pennine Way walkers will be allowed access through the forest and where the Pennine Way crosses the rally stage, marshals will be on hand to guide you across safely. Other forest access

To ensure that the rally is run as safely as possible, it is necessary for several footpaths and other public rights of ways (PROW) to be closed during the rally. Notices are posted to make you aware of which footpaths and public rights of ways are affected, giving the dates and times for the closure.

We ask that you stay on the marked paths and within the designated spectator areas. Please do not go wandering off, stay in the designated spectator areas, and stay safe.
