Preparations for the all new Kielder Forest Rally are now well under way, despite the recent inclement weather, with the super compact event planning to run six stages, all based around the well known Greenside Forest Parking Facility with the ceremonial start just up the road at Kielder Castle. The six stages will consist of two laps, three stages each and there will be two service halts, allowing plenty of time for re-fettling after the rigours of the Kielder stages. In line with the event’s compact nature, the first stage will be less than 3 miles from the Kielder Castle start line.
The first car will depart from Kielder Castle at 10:00am and will head for the stages which feature such well known and classic names such as Black Fell, Broomylinn and Falstone where the rally organisers have selected the best roads available, carefully avoiding those used recently for logging and forestry operations.
Welcome support for the rally has come from S.G. Petch garages, Kielder Power Tools and Advanced Signs. Kielder Power Tools will be sponsoring a stage and will donate a selection of quality prizes. More details on the special awards will be announced soon.
Entries for the event will open in early March and with the rally counting for the Fuchs Lubricants British historic Championship, the English Rally Championship with Seacon UK, the SG.Petch/ANECCC Championship, the recently announced Crew25 Series and the Motoscope Northern Historic Rally Championship, there is bound to be a rush for entries.
The rally will also feature the mighty Land Rovers of the Armed Forces Rally Team, regular and extremely welcome visitors to the Kielder Forest stages.
