Marshals – A Plea for Help

The Kielder Forest Rally will run on Saturday 25th April 2020 and it will be based entirely in the Kielder area, with the cars starting from Kielder Castle, servicing at the Greenside car park (off the C200) and all stages contained within Kielder Forest.

We are appealing early for marshals to help out, as we will require a LOT of people-power to ensure we have a safe and successful event.

Areas we are looking for help:

  • Kielder Forest (for the stages)
  • Kielder Area (for the Service Areas)
  • Kielder Castle (for the start)
  • Kielder Castle & surrounding area (Rally HQ, Scrutineering and Documentation). Help is needed Friday 24th and Saturday 25th April.

There are many roles and many time slots available – whether you have masses of experience marshaling, or virtually none, we will welcome you and help you find a suitable role.

In return, you will be able to get close to the rally cars (yes, you can catch a smell of some of the CastrolR :-)), play a vital role in keeping an event running smoothly, receive a marshals goody-bag (all say “Ooooh…”!!) and have some good Motorsport “crack” with competitors, service crews and members of the public, all thrown into the bargain!

At this stage, we’re not looking for people to commit, but to let us know if you (or your Car Club) are interested, so that we can contact you nearer the event.

Also, for those of you who can’t bear to see the cars close up, and want to watch them fleetingly fly past at full speed in the forest, we would also be very keen to hear from you if you are not already scheduled to be on a Stage – we can then allocate you to a Stage Commander then.

Please feel free to tell your friends, family, colleagues etc if you think someone you know may be interested in helping out on the rally.

If you have any queries, why not contact our chief marshal or if you would like to volunteer to marshal then please fill in our Volunteer to Marshal form.

Safety is paramount on any motorsport event now, and as such, Motorsport UK requires all marshals to be registered and for them to have undertaken a short online training course. This online training course takes less than 45 minutes to complete, and once complete you can then register, for free, as a marshal with Motorsport UK. The online training can be accessed via the following link:  https://members.msauk.org

Thanks!!
