Mighty Military Add Muscle to Pirelli

Armed Forces Rally Team
2018 will see a welcome return to the Pirelli International Rally for the Armed Forces Rally Team who will be making their first appearance of the season on the Carlisle based event, with the full, 6 unit, team eagerly welcoming the opportunity to compete over the challenging gravel tracks in the giant Kielder Forest complex. The Armed Forces Rally Team will be using their familiar white Land Rover “Wolfs”, now powered by a 2.5 litre turbocharged diesel engine  and weighing in at an excess of 2 tonnes, they are an awesome sight when at full speed, careering round at some amazing angles as they bounce their way through the forest stages with gusto. The Pirelli International Rally is just the season opener for the team who regularly compete in events throughout the UK and Europe during the season while last year they ventured over to Iceland to enter the Rally Reykjavik where the roads consisted of mud, lava and volcanic ash, all in a days work for a Land Rover. The rally will be a test, not only for the drivers but also for their enthusiastic backup crew, all volunteers, who work hard and efficiently to keep their vehicles going, treating the event very much as an exercise, they take great pride in their achievements and are determined to see the whole team cross the finish line.
