Rally’s Roman Rendezvous

Hadrian's Wall

Competitors in this year’s Pirelli International Rally, a round of the British Rally Championship, will receive an unusual introduction to the event with the pre event reconnaissance run starting off from the historic surroundings of Birdoswald Roman Fort where crews will assemble prior to heading to Kielder Forest and the familiarisation runs over the rally’s special stages, all run over the miles of gravel tracks in the giant forest complex.

Situated high up on Harrow Scar and with a commanding view over the Irthing Valley and  West towards the Lake District, the site will certainly rank as the most scenic of venues in the championship and will give the crews a rare moment of tranquillity before a hectic weekend which will see the country’s top rally crews going head to head as they chase vital championship points,  beside the British Championship, the Carlisle based Pirelli International Rally is a counter for several other series including the Fuchs Lubricant Motorsport UK British Historic Championship, the FIA Celtic Trophy, the Motoscope Northern Stage Championship and the ANECCC SG Petch Stage Rally Championship, so there are certainly a lot of points up for grabs.

This year’s Pirelli International Rally will run on Saturday 27th April and will be based at the massive H & H Borderway Auction Mart, located just of the M6 Motorway at Junction 43. The British Rally Championship competitors will finish in Brampton where more celebrations are scheduled at the town centre finish line.
