Students to Star on the Stages

Myerscough Students
A pair of young students from Lancashire University’s Centre Myerscough, Bart Lang and Sinclair Young,  will swop studies for stages when they leave the classroom and head for Carlisle and the Pirelli International Rally, the opening round of the Prestone MSA British Rally Championship, lining up against the top drivers from Great Britain and Europe. 23 year old Lang, a BSc Motorsport student who is in the final year of his studies starred in last years BTRDA Rally First Series, scoring seven out eight class wins and he is also the current English Junior Champion. This has enabled him to progress to the country’s top series in a bid to climb the motorsport ladder. Lang and Young will contest every  round of the championship in a Ford Fiesta R2 which has been rebuilt and prepared by Myerscough College students who will also run and service the car during the coming season. The crew are hoping that the increased exposure of the British Championship will lead to them extending the association beyond this coming season. Bart commented on the coming season, “Having won the English Junior Championship last year, the partnership with Myerscough paves the way for what will hopefully be a successful year. I know the students will do a really fantastic job so I can’t wait to get on with it”. The Carlisle based Pirelli International Rally takes place on Saturday 28th April and will feature some exciting special stages in the giant Kielder Forest complex before a high profile, town centre finish in the bustling Cumbrian market town of Brampton.
